Great news for The Washington apple industry, they are on a pace that will make the 2010 crop its largest ever. This is based on projections of the number of boxes packed, bin of fruit yield, total shipment to exceed 108.6 millions boxes.

The current record was set in 2008 at 108.3 million boxes sold.

The Yakima Valley Growers-Shippers Association, said that the early-season estimates had suggested the state's crop would fall far short of a record.

But reality shows an bright outlook and expectations.

It was stated that The market demand has been strong in part because other states had a reduced supply and prices have stayed strong. The shippment of apples surpassed the projections. They can expect even more improvement in what is looking to be a record year for the Washington apple industry.

Thank to Dave Lester of the YHR for the info.
