Happy MLK Day!

If you are able to come down to the MLK Day Peace March in downtown Yakima on Monday, January 15th, make sure you arrive early to get a parking spot and assemble with the crowd! The march is hosted by the Henry Beauchamp Community Center and the YWCA of Yakima. Volunteers will be on hand at 11:30am to give you a participation ribbon to wear on your coat. This event is free and open to the public.

What: MLK Jr. Day Peace March

When: 11:45am crowd formation; The march begins at approximately 12pm

Where: S 5th Ave and MLK Blvd, Yakima (You can park in the Solarity Credit Union parking lot across the street.) Free Yakima Transit city buses are available to return people to their vehicles.

Street Closure Alert: Please note that MLK Jr. Boulevard will be closed at 10am until approximately 2:30pm from North 5th Avenue to North 8th Street, and 8th Street will be closed from MLK Jr. Blvd to Yakima Avenue.

After the march, participants are encouraged to attend the guest speakers and presentation from 1pm-2pm. It is also free to attend, and will be held at the Yakima Convention Center (10 N. 8th St).

After the presentation, the public is invited to the free Soup Kitchen at Henry Beauchamp Community Center (1211 S 7th St). Buses are available to take people to the Soup Kitchen from 2:00-4:00pm.
