Australian singer 8 Ball Aitken brings a country-rock vibe with his song "Underneath the Stars," which is premiering exclusively on The Boot.

The second the song begins, Aitken is singing, and his bluesy vocals and the tune's upbeat melody will instantly lift listeners' moods. Though the lyrics are certainly sweet, a slide guitar solo and Aitken's classic sound lend some grit to the song; it's reminiscent of Tom Petty, but with a little more more swamp.

"Warm breeze blowing, late October night / We lay down a blanket by the lake's moonlight / Galaxies explode and illuminate the sky / Nobody out here, only you and I," Aitken sings, then immediately dives into the chorus: "I wanna sleep with you underneath the stars / Underneath the stars / Underneath the stars / I wanna dream with you underneath the stars / You and me, underneath the stars."

While the song seems like a fairly straightforward love song, pay attention to that last verse, because there's a twist that listeners definitely won't see coming.

"Underneath the Stars" is from Aitken's upcoming eponymous record, which is set for release on Feb. 26. The Aussie, who is currently living in Austin, Texas, offers a slew of "party music for the real hillbillies" with songs such as “Seven Bucks an Hour in a Chicken Suit,” “Witness Protection,” “Outback Booty Call” and "She’s Going to Mexico, I’m Going to Jail."

“If the girls don’t dance, it ain’t rock ’n’ roll,” Aitken says in a press release -- and there's a whole lot of dancing happening at his shows. “One of my happiest achievements is having over a thousand people say to me, ‘That’s the most fun I’ve ever had at a gig.’ To make people happy comes above everything else."

Aitken's upcoming disc will be the singer's first in the United States; however, he has previously released eight albums in his native Australia. Aitken is currently on a month-long tour in Texas, which will include a stop at SXSW in March. For more information, fans can visit 8BallAitken.com.
