**Typically considered a male-oriented profession, women are out-earning men as farmers, ranchers and ag managers.

That’s according to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics using 2017 numbers that show the weekly median salary for men was $963, while women earned just over $1,100 per week.

agnetwest.com reports in 2012, USDA Census of Agriculture stats show women comprised 30 percent of American farm operators.

The ag industry is one of just 10 areas in which women are out-earning men in similar positions.

**With the midterm election behind us, the 2018 Farm Bill’s future remains unclear.

According to agnetwest.com, conflicting reports indicate a farm bill decision could be announced soon, but others suggest the changeover in Congress could push the process into 2019.

Democrats will take over the majority in the House of

Representatives next year, so with less than 20 legislative days left in the calendar year, reconciling the House and Senate versions of the farm bill seems like a tall order.

**Teaming up to create the first of its kind, animal-free milk, Perfect Day has formed a partnership with Archer Daniels Midland.

Agweb.com reports, the duo plans to begin supplying the world’s first animal-free dairy proteins to the food industry next year.

Instead of using dairy cattle, which have historically been the only way to produce dairy proteins, this product will be produced via microflora fermentation.
