The website Reddit asked readers to ask a 96-year-old woman anything they wanted. Some of the questions and answers:

Are you afraid of dying?
Not really. I’ve lived long enough…it’s time to let someone else have a turn I suppose.

When you were younger, where there any fads, music, etc. that you were into but your parents couldn’t stand?
When I was probably 10 years old, I wanted to be a flapper girl more than anything. My mother called them hussies.

What is the mental and/or physiological aspect of aging that was (or is) most surprising to you?
My body doesn’t do what my brain tells it to sometimes. It’s surprising to reach for a glass of water and not be able to grip it on the first try.

How did you feel when you were surprised like that?
I was mad at my brain.

What has been the most frustrating thing about getting older? What has been the best part of being older?
It is frustrating when people call me honey or sweetie. I am old enough to know their great grandfather. The best part is I never have to stand, ever. Anywhere. Someone always gets me a chair.

They say that your perception of time changes as you get older: Time moves slowly when you’re young, and speeds up the longer you’re alive. Have you experienced this phenomenon for yourself?
Disagree, it feels like I’ve been here forever.

General life advice? I’m looking for the golden nuggets.
Don’t take things too seriously when you’re young. Think “Am I going to care about this when I am 96?” You probably won’t.

What do you think about computers and the Internet? How do you imagine Internet on your mind?
The Internet is difficult, but I guess a book might be difficult for kids these days.

What’s the best part of elderly life/retirement?
Laughing at the people in my neighborhood who have to go to work.

I lost my grandparents at a very young age. I had a great grandmother that lived until she was near 104 but I was only 11 when she passed. I wish I had the opportunity to ask her some of these questions. She was born in 1865 and passed in 1969. Can you imagine what that woman saw?

If you could ask your grand parents any question at all what would it be?
