I love being a mom and I love my job, but I admit it: I would fish for a living if I could! HA!

Parade Floats Can Be A Nightmare — I Remember Doing Them As A Kid
Well, it is officially parade season. Selah Community Days was just last weekend, Yakima's Memorial Day parade is Saturday (May 27), followed by Zillah Days, the Moxee Hop Festival and a long lineup of others. I remember building floats for the parades we had when I was a kid. I was so excited to go help. All of the planning and fun of building the float was great. Then I got older.
It Is National Wine Day — I Cannot Wait For Yakima Uncorked
In celebration of National Wine Day, it is only fitting that I make me some creamy pesto with bow pasta, a beautiful steak and some yummy corn. That is exactly what I had and to finish it off, a nice glass of white wine. Yummy! I love finding out different ways and different dishes to pair wines with.
Memorial Day — My Mom Used To Call It ‘Decoration Day’
My mom used to call Memorial Day "Decoration Day," and I still do. We always used to decorate the graves of our loved ones who served in the military.
Yakima Police Warn Of New Phone Scam
I have a question for you. What would you do if someone called you up and said they were with the Police Department and that they had a warrant for your arrest? And what if they said that if you didn't pay a fine right then -- over the phone with a credit card -- they would come and arrest you? This is exactly what is happening in the Yakima Valley. And people are actually paying the fine over the

Armed Forces Ceremony in Selah Brought Tears, Honors … And a Great Poem
Selah Community Days did not disappoint this year. People came out in droves to attend all of the festivities. It really was a milestone for the community. The parade brought more than usual. Half of the floats themes were about being a true American. Even the Selah queen and princess floats were designed to honor our country. To finish it off was the armed forces ceremony at Wixson Park. I was ho

A $24 Million Lotto Ticket Is Still Unclaimed — That Is A Lot Of Money
It blows my mind that once someone buys a lotto ticket they do not check it the next day. I try to buy a lotto ticket every time we get paid, just in case. When the lotto numbers come out, I watch for them.
Yup, I am that person. In the 24 hours I buy my lotto ticket and before they read the numbers, I have a list of things I am going to do. Yup, I am that person, too. New York sold a lotto ticket
Carnival Caps Off the Fun at Selah Community Days [PHOTOS]
The parade was fun, the music's great and that lemonade really hit the spot. But now that you're full of hot dogs, tacos, potatoes and Hobo Feed food, it's time to wander around the park and hit the carnival at Selah Community Days!
Hobo Feed at Selah Community Days Turned a Hungry Crowd Happy [PHOTOS]
The way Selah does it, being a hobo doesn't seem all that bad. In fact, if you sidled up to one of those tables in the parking lot of the Selah Civic Center for Thursday's Hobo Feed, you might've been tempted to abandon all responsibility, hit the road and seek a more carefree life.
(OK, maybe that's just us.)
