Rik, Cefus and myself were treated to a tour of Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital's NICU recently as part of our Children's Miracle Network fundraiser.
I am very familiar with the NICU, since my little Shaylee was born at 31 weeks and weighed 3.1 pounds. She was put on a ventilator and needed to be in an isolette. She spent seven weeks in the NICU, where a bond seems to develop with the NICU nurses that's hard to describe. But I'll do my best.
It's one of the most difficult things to do as parent -- leave the hospital without your baby and trust that they will be cared for with love.
Congratulations to Rachel! She is the winner of our The Bull Mom Makeover contest from Belu Salon. Rachel won a new hair cut/color, full makeup, face threading, eyelash extensions, spa pedicure, sheliac manicure, vera spa sunless tanning and a relaxing massage!
The Bull Mom Makeover was my brainchild because my own mom had the same hairstyle and horrible color for the past 15 years. I just couldn't handle it anymore, so for Christmas I bought her a gift card to Belu Salon and scheduled her an appointment. That way she had to go!
Here comes more gray hair! I have another teen driver as of yesterday — Benjamin is officially licensed and insured!
To make my nerves worse, I happened upon a survey from Response Insurance, which found that 17 percent of drivers have almost gotten into a car accident because they were picking their nose. Gross! (More men than women pick their noses, by the way.)
Brooke Birmingham is a 28 year old blogger who has chronicled her weight loss in her blog. She lost more than 170 pounds in four years and has kept it off for a year.
Shape magazine contacted Brooke about being part of their "Success Stories" series. "Success Stories" chronicles inspiring stories of real people who have lost weight and changed their lives.
Brooke submitted this "after" photo of herself in a bikini for Shape magazine's website — but they asked her to send another picture of herself in a T-shirt. Brooke questioned the magazine on why they needed a different photo and they said it was policy to show success stories in tees.
