Rik Mikals

I’ve been up and down the radio dial as the famous "WKRP" line goes. I started right out of high school in 1988 in my hometown of Clarkston, Wash., at KCLK – a country station -- and from there moved all over Idaho, Montana, California and Washington state at various radio stations. I was on KMPS in Seattle in the 1990s and moved to Yakima in 1998 as program director of KFFM. I moved again and again until I was in Bakersfield, Calif,, and then Tri-Cities, and then back to Yakima, and again to Tri-Cities and more! I bought a farm in Prosser a few years back with my wife Megan, and we have three great dogs named Phoebe, Barkley and Roxy. My son is an aspiring musician and plays, performs and writes original music. I also have a stepson named Kyran. I’m known for having a never-ending knowledge of pop culture and easily get addicted to TV reality shows. I love "Star Trek," Mustangs (the car) and '80s music. I’m a huge comic book fan, having a comic collection easily totaling more than 6,000 comics.

Washington State Had A Bombastic Politician Before Trump

The presidential election is finally over A lot of folks are upset over the harshness and crassness of the campaigns. It was a new low in American politics that will set the stage for all the elections that follow.

You might think Donald Trump was the first to speak his mind so bluntly, but I  recall growing up in Washington when another politician was bombastic, loud and "Trump-like" -- and she ended up becoming governor.

Here’s How to Get An ‘I Voted’ Sticker In Washington State

I was bummed as I dropped off my ballot this morning at the ballot box in Prosser because I see my Facebook friends in voting booth states sporting their "I voted" stickers. I think it would be great in mail-in ballot states if they included those stickers in our ballot envelope.

I did some snooping and here's what I found for Washington state voters who can't find those stickers.

Dr. Strange Takes Marvel Movies To The Next Level – Rik’s Review

I was never the biggest Dr. Strange growing up and I always liked him better in a group setting in such books as The Defenders. I knew his origin and had a few issues but was never fascinated by the character until Benedict Cumberbatch was cast as Dr. Stephen Strange. I loved Cumberbatch in The Imitation Game so I was already a fan of his acting and I couldn't wait to see his take on the good doctor.

Did Someone Die On Our Prosser Farm?

It's Halloween, and my wife and I have just moved out of our 100-year-old farmhouse in Prosser. It had never occurred to me that someone could've died in the house, but with a place that old, something creepy must've happened, right? I just had to find out!

Here's what I discovered ...

It was our second year of competing in the Carve Out For Hunger Celebrity Pumpkin Carving Contest at the Selah Civic Center on October 22nd and it was our second straight lose. Maryhill Museum of Art Is Still Open Until Nov. 15 [PHOTOS]

I stopped by the Maryhill Museum of Art on my honeymoon back in 2011 because I had never been there. I thought it was a cool place to explore and I enjoyed going inside the facility. The museum shuts down for the season on Nov. 15, but it still has several great family events to attend before then.
