Rik Mikals

I’ve been up and down the radio dial as the famous "WKRP" line goes. I started right out of high school in 1988 in my hometown of Clarkston, Wash., at KCLK – a country station -- and from there moved all over Idaho, Montana, California and Washington state at various radio stations. I was on KMPS in Seattle in the 1990s and moved to Yakima in 1998 as program director of KFFM. I moved again and again until I was in Bakersfield, Calif,, and then Tri-Cities, and then back to Yakima, and again to Tri-Cities and more! I bought a farm in Prosser a few years back with my wife Megan, and we have three great dogs named Phoebe, Barkley and Roxy. My son is an aspiring musician and plays, performs and writes original music. I also have a stepson named Kyran. I’m known for having a never-ending knowledge of pop culture and easily get addicted to TV reality shows. I love "Star Trek," Mustangs (the car) and '80s music. I’m a huge comic book fan, having a comic collection easily totaling more than 6,000 comics.

Do Parents Pranking Kids On YouTube Go Too Far? [POLL]

A series of videos are getting a lot of attention on YouTube right now and the question is do these videos constitute abuse by the parents?

The videos in question are pretty harsh on the language and you have kids of multiple ages involved in the pranks. The parents claim it's all in good fun, but after watching one of the videos, I couldn't stand to watch another one.

It took me straight back to my childhood and actions that I consider to be child abuse. Here's why I think it's abusive ...

Yakima’s Chalet Mall Starbucks Is Closing By Summer’s End

It's hard to imagine a Starbucks closing in Yakima, but looks like the one at the Chalet Mall on Summitview Avenue will be shuttering their doors by summer's end.

I think the last time we had a Starbucks closure in Yakima was at the Top Foods location back in 2008.

Happy 90th Birthday To Bull Listener Vivian Williams [PHOTOS]

Michele and I love our listeners -- especially Vivian Williams of Prosser.

I don't recall when our paths first crossed, but I think she's been calling this particular station for over 15 years.

I think Vivian came over to listen to The Bull when the legendary "Hutch" crossed the street from Yakima's other country music station.

Vivian turned 90 over the weekend, and I thought I'd surprise her and drop in on her birthday celebration.
