It’s a little strange that one of the most anticipated moments in Avengers 2 isn’t even something that takes place during the movie. Of course, we all want to see the team battle Ultron, but fans are already abuzz over what will be revealed in the post-credits scene. No need to wait any longer! We now have our answer, courtesy of director Joss Whedon: nothing.

Whedon spoke to Entertainment Weekly and discussed said he opted to forgo a scene at the very end of the credits because he didn't want it to be compared to the now-classic shawarma scene.

We don’t want to chase that. That was a jewel and a weird little quirk [...] It didn’t seem to lend itself in the same way, and we wanted to be true to what felt right. The first rule of making a sequel is take the best moments and do something else. Don’t do the Indiana Jones gun trick again differently. Just go somewhere else. Don’t try to hit the same highs, because people will sense it.

We can sense your disappointment. But, Marvel president Kevin Feige says there is a silver lining. There is a very brief, epilogue-like scene that pops up right before the full credits start to roll (not unlike the Bucky Barnes tag after Captain America: The Winter Soldier).

Just in case you think this is Marvel up to their old tricks, Whedon assures you they're being honest.

There is nothing at the very end. And that’s not a fake-out. We want people to know so they don’t sit there for 10 minutes and then go: ‘Son of a bitch! I’ll kill them!’

One other thing you shouldn't be looking for is Captain Marvel. Though the character was rumored to be making a surprise appearance in the film, both Whedon and Feige have ruled that out.

Avengers 2 opens in theaters on May 1.
