Did you see this one coming? The Backstreet Boys, one of country music’s more recent collaborators, are working on a new album that will offer some country samplings.

The pop group has been recoding some of their upcoming album in Nashville, and as they tell Rolling Stone, there are a couple of tracks that explore country elements.  “We cut some Nashville songs recently, and just yesterday I was in the vocal booth. So we’re in the lab playing around, experimenting,” Kevin Richardson reveals.

The superstar boy band already has a hit on country radio — their collaboration with Florida Georgia Line, “God, Your Mama and Me,” reached the top of Billboard’s Country Airplay chart in 2017. The year also brought a show-stopping performance of the hit and BSB’s pop smash “Everybody”  during the 2017 ACM Awards. The Backstreet Boys even joined FGL for select dates on the country duo’s 2017 Smooth Tour over the summer and teamed up with them for an episode of CMT Crossroads in August.

“When news came out we were collaborating with FGL, my Twitter feed and Facebook feed was all fans commenting ‘Oh my god, my two favorite groups are collaborating,'” Richardson says of fans’ reaction when they announced the partnership with the country stars.

Florida Georgia Line have made a name for themselves working with artists of all genres. In addition to BSB, they’ve also experimented with the Chainsmokers, Bebe Rexha and Hailee Steinfeld. “Last Day Alive” is featured on the Chainsmokers’ latest album, Memories … Do Not Open, while Steinfeld announced that she tapped FGL, Watt and Alesso for her track “Let Me Go.”
