A beloved employee from the Ellensberg Brewing and Malting Company was hit and killed by a car on Saturday night.

James McCurdy was walking along University Way when he was struck and killed by a car driven by 19-year-old Ricardo Abarca. Abarca was cleared of any signs of impairment.

McCurdy was last seen exiting the Wild Goose Casino after reportedly being refused service for intoxication.

The accident happened around 11:30 p.m. and EMTs tried to revive him but he dead at the scene.

The Washington State Patrol is investigating, but no charges have been filed.
