US consumers used a record of nearly 2.1 billion gallons of biodiesel in 2015, according to the National Biodiesel Board. Kicking off the 2016 Biodiesel Conference and Expo in Tampa, industry leaders released the production data compiled by the EPA. Biodiesel industry leaders said the year-end figures demonstrate biodiesel’s rising popularity and its continued success as America’s first and only EPA-designated Advanced Biofuel to reach commercial-scale production nationwide.

Chinese officials say the direction of corn reform is to let the market decide prices while the state support prices will no longer play a role in subsidizing farmers. Pro Farmers First Thing Today reports the comments came from the Central Rural Work Leading Group, which is China's top decision-making body on rural affairs. While no timeline was given, leaders indicated that the country would also target a cut in imports of corn substitutes, increase sales of domestic corn by commercial companies and avoid any increases in state reserves.
