The Bob Hall Dealership’s "Change is Good" Campaign will award more than $20,000 this weekend to local projects submitted by Yakima Valley children.

The awards ceremony, which runs from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Sarg Hubbard Park on the Yakima Greenway, also includes music by the popular Seattle kids band The Not-Its. The band has just returned to the Northwest after a tour that included stops at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, as well as Washington D.C.

The "Change is Good" campaign came about from Bob Hall's long history of community support. The idea was to empower kids fifth grade and younger to be the change they want to see in their hometown, organizers explained.

Suggestions have poured in from kids around the valley, according to Bob Hall owners Jason and Jaclyn Midkiff.

“We were so excited to get so many ideas from the children of our Valley," said in a news release this week. "And we are even more excited to announce the winners. Change really is good for everyone.”

In all, 763 children submitted ideas for the campaign. Seven individual submissions have been chosen to be share the $20,000.

Those winning projects will be announced during Sunday's free event, which is open to the public.
