For the second time in less than a month, two rows of fans will go home from an award show picking confetti out of their hair and outfits following a Carrie Underwood performance. At the end of ‘Good Girl’ at the 2012 CMT Music Awards, it rained gold on unsuspecting fans below.

The singer was on fire in a gold, sequined La Femme mini-dress, but her performance was a little more conservative than similar performances at the Billboard Music Awards and April’s ACM Awards (Underwood sang ‘Blown Away’ at the Billboards). Perhaps she toned it down because husband Mike Fisher was in the audience for the first time. Either way, there was plenty to enjoy. Her vocals were stunning as usual, and the energy only dipped when the lights went out.

A breath later, fans lit gold flashlights, and the singer shined through the final verse. Before the broadcast began, Underwood joked that she was wearing the high heels she’d perform in because she needed to get used to them. Her time on stage came and went without a trip and fall — or even a stumble.
