Carrie Underwood has been a longtime supporter of humanitarian efforts, and now she’s being honored for her selfless and generous philanthropic work.

Country Radio Broadcasters will present Underwood with the Artist Humanitarian Award in 2014, and looking at her long list of humanitarian work, that comes as no surprise. The award, created in 1990, recognizes country artists who have “exhibited exceptional humanitarian efforts during their career.”

In addition to establishing C.A.T.S. (Checotah Animal, Town, and School) Foundation to focus charitable efforts on her hometown community in Checotah, Okla. and helping build a playground (along with stronger education), the superstar singer has also embraced many other charitable endeavors: Pedigree’s Pet Adoption Campaign, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Save the Children, trips to Africa for American Idol’s Idol Gives Back, a USO Tour in the Middle East, celebrity fundraisers for City of Hope … the list continues.

As fans probably remember, the Red Cross was ‘blown away’ after Underwood donated one million dollars from her tour proceeds for disaster relief. That gives just a peek into the singer’s massive amount of humanitarian work and even bigger heart.

“In a format rich with artists that are generous with their time and talents for a wide variety of worthy causes and needs, Carrie Underwood has distinguished herself with her depth of kindnesses and commitment to making a positive difference,” CRS President Charlie Morgan says. “We are humbled by the good work she has done and are proud to highlight her efforts by naming her Artist Humanitarian of the Year.”

Underwood will be honored at the opening ceremony of the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville on Feb. 19, 2014.

Past recipients of the annual award have included Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Trace Adkins, Randy Owen, Toby KeithBrad Paisley, Brooks & Dunn, Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, Garth Brooks and Charlie Daniels, among others.
