Every once in a while Michele and I get to enjoy a live performance from artists who stop by to visit the Morning Bull Pen, and today was one of those days.
If there were ever a night to wear a cowboy hat, this week's Downtown Summer Nights -- our last of the season -- would be that night! Even if you never wear cowboy hats, you should this Thursday. Just channel your inner Ted Nugent and you will be fine going to our free concert on North Front Street.
Here's why ...
We just might've saved the best for last.
Downtown Summer Nights closes out the 2016 season Thursday evening on North Front Street with Redwood Son and Yakima homeboy Zach Hinson. It'll be a night of country, Americana and real-life musical storytelling.
Yeah -- wear your boots, if you want.
THAT smoked!
Seattle's Rafael Tranquilino and Yakima's Avion treated Downtown Summer Nights to one of the hottest shows of the summer Thursday evening, bringing Latin-spiced rock and gritty blues to North Front Street.
The crowded packed the whole street, enjoying the music savoring the food, drinks and vendor booths until the sun went down...
We only have two more weeks of Downtown Summer Nights and as the temperatures cool, the flavor of the music gets hotter with Avion and Rafael Tranquilino. The free entertainment starts at 6 p.m. on North Front Street with a Latin, blues, rock and funk vibe that will surely get you and the family dancing.

With just three more Downtown Summer Nights concerts left, we're appreciating them all the more! And tonight (Aug. 4) brings the awesome sounds of Snug Harbor and Yakima Valley favorite Camille Bloom.
With the temperature hanging around the triple-digit mark, you won't need a jacket at Downtown Summer Nights this week. You might as well lose the tie, too.
But as usual, be ready for some great music, food and drinks when two more Northwest bands step onto the stage Thursday evening.
This week's show features Polecat and Crow and the Canyon.

Good thing for Too Slim & the Taildraggers and Luke Yates! The two acts turned on two great sets Thursday night at Yakima's new favorite party spot, North Front Street.

We've had Luke and Issac Olson at Downtown Summer Nights the last few years and they always put on a great show. I've become a big fan of the duo and always get excited when they release new music.
They've been working the Northwest concert circuit the last few years and won a songwriting contest in 2013. I think they'll break soon and 929 The Bull will soon be able to say we knew them when.
