Being a Mayor I get a lot of different requests, some of which I gladly accept. For example, a 4th grade class was assigned a project. They were to write a letter to the Mayor and offer up proposal for a zoo in Yakima.

What does that mean, exactly? What can you do now, and what can't you do? I assume there are a few questions about the new ordinance, so I wanted to answer them here:

I think we all have to understand the simple math that comes with science. The worlds population is growing, pretty quickly and based on projections we should hit 9 Billion by 2060! I can't believe it's been three years since the Yakima City Council approved the installation of the large granite piece of artwork that now sits on North Front Street. It's funny looking back on issues that had the community all fired up at the time. It's been there so long that I'm starting to think those of us that live here don't even notice it anymore.
The 4th of July is almost here and I think in America we sometimes forget that everything comes with a price. We all appreciate and thank the men and women of the armed forces who fight and work 24/7 365 to defend our freedom whenever where ever. It’s been an incredibly busy week in Yakima. There will be major changes coming to Yakima in the next 7 months and the best part is it will be based on what the people of Yakima want. The last 4 years have been challenging from dealing with the impact of the recession, a lot of major transitions at the highest levels of city government, and finally signing the contract with a new city manager Tony O’Rourke.
In a recent visit to Yakima, Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna took some time to stop by the Bull studio to catch up on a number of issues. Rob has been busy traveling the State as AG but also as a candidate for Governor.
