Who is the "Real" Joe Diffie? Learn More About Country's Honky Tonk Attitude

It's one of the highest forms of flattery in country music, giving a shout out to the artist or artists who helped paved the way for today's country stars.

We've heard such shout outs in songs sung by Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley, Blake Shelton and Jason Aldean.

The current cutting edge song "1994" by Jason Aldean pays major tribute to one of the pioneers of honky tonk country music. Joe Diffie was one of the biggest country stars in the 1990's. He's had platinum albums, he's won a Grammy, is an ACM award winner and talented songwriter to boot.

I'm sure he's one of the artists that Jason Aldean grew up listening to on his radio. So for the younger generation of country music fans that are just now learning about Joe Diffe, let's take a trip down memory lane and ask...would the real Joe Diffie please stand up.

You can't tell me that some of Kelly Clarkson's songs or Reba's songs aren't about ex-boyfriends/ex-husbands. Now they may not be as public about calling them out like Taylor Swift has been, but they still have meaning.
