China Still Holding Up Wheat Imports, USDA Offering Marketing Help

  • A government official told the U.S. Grains Council that China’s decision to hold up imports of certain U.S. corn shipments is a result of the country’s divisions in developing a modern agricultural and food policy.

China’s government has decided to use new technology and look to global markets but this is an intense and increasingly public debate in the country when genetic modification and trade intersect.

China has rejected some 600-thousand tons of corn since Nov. 2013. They have also rejected about 2,000 tons of U.S. dried distillers’ grains.

  • USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service is inviting fruit and vegetable growers, packers, shippers, processors, wholesalers and retailers of all sizes to participate in a series of free, interactive webinars on its many programs and services.

Each webinar will feature a presentation from a USDA expert, introductions to staff and an interactive question and answer session. Four webinars are currently scheduled from March until June.
