Chris Stapleton has been announced as one of the early winners in the 2016 CMA Awards, taking home Music Video of the Year for "Fire Away."

The singer -- who scored a career-making run of wins at the 2015 CMAs, topping it off with a headline-grabbing dual performance with Justin Timberlake -- is one of the most-nominated artists this year, too, on the strength of the year he's had since then. He's even nominated for Entertainer of the Year, a category in which he will face some of the biggest stars in country music today.

Stapleton's win was revealed early Wednesday morning (Nov. 2) during the live broadcast of Good Morning America, where some of the off-camera awards were announced before the landmark 50th anniversary broadcast of Country's Biggest Night.

Stapleton conceived the concept for the "Fire Away" video, which Tim Mattia directed. The clip stars actors Ben Foster and Margarita Levieva as a young married couple going through exciting life moments, including buying a home and decorating it together. Over the course of the video it becomes evident the young woman is struggling with mental illness as she attempts suicide multiple times, including one instance in which she tries to drown herself in the bathtub.

The singer hoped to bring attention to mental health awareness through the Campaign to Change Direction with the video. “Fire Away” represents what the organization calls the five signs of suffering emotionally, which include change in personality, agitation, withdrawal, decline in personal care and hopelessness.
