(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

There is more to the story than that, obviously, but that's my takeaway from a Ronnie Dunn article in the current People Country Special. That he sings "Tempted," the 1981 song from Brit rock band Squeeze, in the shower because he likes the beat. I would have never guessed that to be his shower song in a hundred years. He also talks about first concerts (the Doobie Brothers in Abilene, Texas, in the '70s), first albums he bought (ZZ Top's Tres Hombres) and the song that still makes him cry (Willie Nelson's "I Still Can't Believe You're Gone"). Dunn also admits there are some things he likes about going solo now that he's on his own after decades as one half of Brooks & Dunn. "Getting to do the recording process, the look, the vibe, the feel of it all without another opinion," he said. I wonder if he'll feel that way about doing his string of live shows solo, too, which kick off Thursday (June 16) in Chicago.
