The Lowdown on Fireworks in Yakima County [AUDIO]

The countdown to the 4^th of July celebration at State Fair Park is on!  As most of you know, fireworks are illegal in the city of Yakima and Yakima County.  There are very few legal places to set off fireworks in our area.  Yes you can buy fireworks on the Yakama reservation but you can't set 'em off anywhere else. 

Fireworks are a huge hazard and can cause serious property damage, that’s one reason why Yakima hosts a huge 4^th of July celebration at State Fair Park.  It’s going to be a great day of family fun.  New this year is a beer garden, you heard me right….an ice cold frosty beer for the first time on the 4^th of July (Sounds American to me.)  Here is a link to the 4^th of July schedule .

If you are staying in the Valley for the 4th of July weekend and you’re wondering about fireworks laws local authorities say they’re banned in all the unincorporated areas of the county. And while a majority of cities in the valley also ban the sale and use of fireworks they are allowed for sale and use in Naches, Granger, Mabton, Moxee and Zillah. Each city has restrictions on the sale and use of fireworks so authorities urge you to make sure you know the rules. Fireworks are banned in all the other cities in the Yakima Valley.
