The ACM's last night, which are billed as Country's Biggest Party is a pre-cursor of what's to come in the next year. Hosts Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan delivered the goods when it came to segueing through the awards and performances.

One things is clear from last night, the landscape has changed from when I was growing up in the 90's. Garth, Alan Jackson, George Strait, Shania Twain, Brook and Dunn, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Reba, Faith Hill, Martina were all on top of the industry. They were winning all the awards year after year.

It is so tough to stay on top these days, and most of the artists mentioned above have won a ton of awards and have cemented their place in the country music history books, but country music's next generation is taking over with a new sound.

The big upset last night was Luke Bryan winning the ACM for Entertainer of the Year. He broke down in tears on stage, being so overwhelmed and honored to have won an award like this so early in his career. He also picked up an ACM for vocal event of the year for teaming up with Jason Aldean and Eric Church on the "Only way I know."

Miranda continued to rake in the awards including taking home the ACM for Top Female Vocalist. She remained humble each time her name was called and even let her husband take the speech for their award winning song "over you."

Carrie nailed her performance, NAILED IT!! The Band Perry rocked the house with their new song "Done."

Jason Aldean won Top Male Vocalist, which goes to show you country music is changing. Eric Church picked up best album for "Chief" and seemed very moved by the ACM honor.

Country music seemed to back off on Taylor Swift as she was shut out last night.

One thing is for sure, Trisha Yearwood looked great and Garth sounded great in his tribute to Dick Clark. George Strait is still on top and headed toward his 60th number one with "Give it all we got tonight."

You can see from the winners list below shows you the next generation is here!
