Couples Court: 15-Year-Old Wants Gastric Bypass

Couples Court today is a very difficult situation that puts the parents of a struggling teen in a really tough spot. Here's what they are forced to deal with.

My 15 year-old daughter is overweight and wants gastric bypass surgery for Christmas. It's the only gift she asked for this year, but she's kind of to blame for the situation. She is lazy and lacks motivation. My ex is OK with the surgery because he thinks it will restore her self confidence and self esteem. I'm not sure what to do. I think 15 is too young for gastric bypass. How do you deal with a lazy teen? I feel like I've failed. Should I agree with my ex or just say no?
