The recent frigid weather has Tennesseans eagerly anticipating springtime, and while warm weather may still seem far away, there's a ray of sunshine in the midst of these dreary weather reports. Craig Morgan recently announced his second annual Billy's Place 5K run, which will take place this spring.

The race will take place on April 12 at Montgomery Bell State Park in the singer's hometown of Dickson, Tenn. All proceeds will benefit the Dickson County Craig Morgan Foundation, which was founded to support area foster children. Individuals can choose to sign up for the race or simply donate to the foundation. Details are available on Morgan's Eventbrite page.

Morgan has enjoyed a successful country music career for over a decade, but his rise to fame was not an overnight process. In fact, he didn't initially start out trying to become a singer. Morgan served in the United States Army for almost a decade. After leaving the Army, he worked in law enforcement and as a Walmart employee in order to pay the bills. He then began singing demos for other singers and songwriters. This gig gave him the opportunity to sign his first record deal with Atlantic Records in 2000. His self-titled debut album helped catapult him to fame.

Today, Morgan enjoys giving back to the community. He frequently performs at military bases both in America and abroad. In addition to the 5K, he performs an annual all-star concert that raises thousands of dollars for foster children in the Middle Tennessee area.
