Darius Rucker joined more than 500 volunteers in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward area on Monday, helping the neighborhood that was heavily affected by 2005’s Hurricane Katrina. Rucker visited Lamanche Urban Farm, where activities included gardening, painting, routing irrigation lines and building a greenhouse. Other volunteers included actor Dennis Haysbert and college football players from the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. Later that night, Darius performed a free concert in the French Quarter. He performed the national anthem prior to the Allstate Sugar Bowl at the Louisiana Superdome on Tuesday.
