Do You Know The Woman is Who’s Always Standing by the Speaker of the House? [PHOTO]

Every time I turn on a major news network I always see something about National politics and lately it’s been the President vs the Speaker of the House John Boehner on the looming budget cuts. It’s the same broken record…it’s his fault, no it’s his fault and the finger pointing continues with not much action.

Now what I see in the photo below is the same woman at almost every press conference. Do you know who she is? She is from Washington State and has quickly risen to the top of Republican politics in the US house and is poised to be in the top spot before long. She is Cathy McMorris Rodgers and this is down low on who she is and what she does.

She is the U.S. Representative for Washington’s 5th congressional district, serving since 2005. The district, based in Spokane, includes most of the eastern third of the state. She is a member of the Republican Party.

She is one of two female U.S. Representatives from her state, the other being Jaime Herrera Beutler, who worked as a legislative analyst for McMorris Rodgers in her first term. She is currently the highest ranking Republican woman in Congress, serving as the Chair of the House Republican Conference. She is only the second woman to serve in that capacity, following former Congresswoman Deborah Pryce, who served from 2003-2007.

With her election in 2012 to the post of Conference Chair, Washington’s 5th Congressional District has the distinction of being one of the few districts in the country to have been home to two high-ranking members of Congress from both parties: former Democratic House Speaker Tom Foley in 1989-95 and now McMorris Rodgers.

Who knew she is from our state and in a power seat?
