OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The Washington Department of Licensing says more schools and training programs will take over driver testing next year.

After Jan. 1, driver exams will no longer be offered at DOL offices in Anacortes, Bremerton, Ephrata, Kelso, Moses Lake, Mount Vernon, Poulsbo, Puyallup, Spokane Valley, Sunnyside, Union Gap and White Salmon.

Drivers who pass the test go to a state office for their license. The Legislature outsourced the testing to reduce wait lines.

The Department of Licensing will continue to offer tests in areas that don't have driver training schools nearby.
