9:50-11:05 Class Session I
- 101 – Treasurer Nuts and Bolts – Janice
This session will offer an opportunity to ask questions and solve problems related to your job as a PTA treasurer. Basic topics will be very briefly reviewed with lots of time for questions and feedback. Recommended for: Treasurers
- 102 – Advocacy and Legislative Basics – Kerrilynn
Learn all the basics of a legislative advocacy program. This class will cover the role of the legislative chair at all levels as well as the variety of resources available and avenues of effective advocacy.
- 103 – Roles and Responsibilites
This presentation will help all board members understand the basic responsibilities of their positions. It will also cover items such as advocacy, fiduciary responsibility, membership and outreach. This class will review the four basic PTA elected positions – president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.
- 104 – Dealing with Conflict – Dori
Prepare to face issues head-on with the awareness of individual differences and opinions leading to more beneficial outcomes; provide practice and resources in problem-solving steps and techniques of conflict management skills; improve your listening and speaking skills in conflict situations; and explain techniques for resolving conflicts as they arise in all areas of volunteer, work, and home life.
11:15-12:30 Class Session II
- 201 – Membership Basics – Basics - Micaela
This class is for first time membership chairs. It will help you understand your role, the PTA membership process, including reasons to join and who can join. We will review membership forms and membership data entry as we discuss how to ask individuals to join.
- 202 – Membership Basics – Advanced – Kerrilynn
This advanced class is for the seasoned membership chair to help you expand on and promote your PTAs membership campaign beyond the basics by increasing awareness and reaching more people in your school and community to build membership numbers.
- 203 – Preventing Theft in PTA – Janice
This class will help participants be able to define the terms theft, fraud, and embezzlement and recognize at least 10 warning signs of theft, fraud, and embezzlement. You will gain 10 tips for fraud prevention and learn what to do when theft is suspected.
- 204 – Volunteers the Foundation of PTA – Connie
PTA runs on the time, energy, and dedication of its volunteers. How can your PTA build the community of volunteers it needs to run a thriving PTA organization? How do you attract volunteers to your PTA and how do you keep them involved? How do you create a balance between your school’s volunteer resources and your organization’s needs? Get more volunteers and keep them! We’ll show you how.
- 205 – Effective Meetings – Dori
Preparation, facilitation and inspiration = results. This presentation will cover the components of meeting planning as well as how to handle a complex meeting. Discuss ways of getting more members to your general membership meetings.
