When you think of entertainment at the Central Washington State Fair, the one thing that pops into everyone's mind is the concert series at the Budweiser stage. As most people know, that is where all the big name entertainment acts play every year. However; most people seem to forget that the fair offers more music entertainment from act's that aren't mainstream. In matter of fact, the other stages feature a plethora of local acts that everyone can enjoy.

One artist who plays the fair every year is that of Folk singer John Dunnigan of Whitefish, Montana. John has shared the stage with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Kris Kristofferson, Jeff Foxworthy and many other legendary artists. John has played the Central Washington State Fair for many years and even get's the awesome opportunity to introduce the bands on the Budweiser Stage. Sometimes, he will even do a "mini-opener" before the band takes the stage like that of last night's Charlie Daniels Band show (photos coming soon!). I first met John in 2010 when I was shooting for the Fair, not only was John very friendly but after a friend of mine showed him the photos I shot of him performing before Williams and Ree took the stage, he instantly became a fan. I also found out that he was a major influence on local Roots Rock act Cody Beebe and The Crooks.

In matter of fact Cody wanted John on the lineup at this year's Chinook Fest in Naches. However, being he was booked for the entire week of the fair, he had to decline. But rest assured, we will hopefully be seeing him on the lineup for next years festival.

Here is a video of him playing "All Along The Watchtower"  from when he played the Marconi Awards, and a gallery of him opening for last night's Charlie Daniels Band show at the Central Washington State Fair. Be sure you check out his set at the Gazebo!
