One of the greatest things about social media is that it gives fans the ability to reach out to their favorite artists, and possibly even get a response in return. One Jake Owen fan, however, got more than he probably was bargaining for, when he posted a comment on Owen's Instagram account over the June 9 weekend.

In the comment, the fan, named Todd Wages, offers up a message of thanks for "making everyone's day a little bit better." He notes that Owens' songs make "hard days easier," "beers go down easier," and "cookouts more fun."

While most artists—if they had time—would simply say "thank you" for the appreciative thoughts, Owen delivered up a gushing fountain of emotion in response.

"I hope I can express to you how much your comment means to me," he wrote. "One of these days I hope I can drink some of those beers, at one of those cookouts you speak of."

He continued on to give some insight on why he chose to become a recording artist, and gave some thoughts as to why he was assigned the role of being an entertainer. "All I’ve ever wanted to do is just make people happy. Trust me, I’ve made people unhappy, and to be honest I’ve been unhappy before," he explained. "I’ve chalked that up to being a human and living life. Learning from life. I’ve never had an absolute understanding as to why I am able to sings songs and travel around this beautiful country. I’ve chalked that up to God’s plan. Even still, It’s never made perfect sense to me.

He went on to examine his choices in life. "There are days when I wonder to myself if I’m doing enough. Am I working hard enough? Am I good Father? Am I a good friend? I do the self constructive criticism thing I think a lot of us do... then there are moments when someone gives you an incredible compliment.. like you just did Todd. I almost feel like you reached out and hugged me through this Insta message. I needed that!

"Todd you are always welcome at any show of mine," he continued. "It’s people like you that make everything I do feel so surreal. So fulfilling. You say that I make your day a little better?!?! Buddy, you and so many others out there are the ones making my day better as well! Thanks for being so kind and taking the time to give me a compliment. I think if everyone gave someone a compliment each day, the world would be a happier place."

Phew. We're betting Todd wasn't expecting all that, but we're happy Owen was so moved by the message. It's rare to see an artist take the time to really express themselves so clearly and honestly in response to a fan's comment.

To make things even better, Owen's post resulted in an all-out lovefest of fans talking about the "awesome positiveness" of the post, and sharing their own stories of how Owens' music had touched their lives. In a day and age where we are hearing way too much bad news every day, we'll definitely take this!
