My girlfriends were talking about how they just received their first subscription box in the mail and were so excited to open it to see what was inside. I had to ask, "what is a subscription box?"

A subscription box is basically a box with assorted items in it and usually boxes have certain themes such as beauty boxes, pet boxes, and food boxes. You usually can't chose specific items for your box, but some subscription boxes will allow you to chose sample products from a list.

A subscription box is normally sent once a month, but some are sent more or less frequently.

The cost for your subscription box can range from $10 to $40 per box.

An average subscription box will contain full-sized sample products. Not the little small freebies you find on sample sites.

The number of products per box varies, but it usually contains 4 -7 products per box.
