80 years ago the world was introduced to the world's first super hero - Superman!

Superman made his debut in Action Comics #1 this week in 1938 and DC Comics released the 1000 issue of Action Comics yesterday and I barely got a copy.

I left work to grab a copy of this historic issue and Adventures Underground had 2 copies left when I arrived -- it was only 10:30 AM!

The 80 page comic book retails for $7.99 and feature multiple variant cover spanning the decades of Superman comic books.

I luckily got the 70's version (which best represents my childhood) but the last copy was snapped by a shopper right after me.

Superman is iconic as he set the stage for all the super-heroes to follow and what a lot of people don't realize is that Superman is a wholly American creation by two teenagers from Cleveland Ohio -- Jerry Seigel and Joe Shuster who then sold the character to DC Comics.

Happy 80th Birthday Superman!
