A Canadian prison inmate is suing federal authorities for injuries he claims were caused by an “aggressive” cow on the prison farm near Edmonton, Alberta. Leslie Johnson’s lawsuit alleges corrections workers at the Bowden Institution penitentiary were aware one cow in particular was “aggressive and dangerous,” but failed to prevent the bovine from attacking him. He claims he was thrown to the ground by the cow and suffered a broken bone in his shoulder that wasn’t X-rayed or treated for months. Johnson also claims corrections staff have been abusive toward him and accuse him of “faking his injury” and shirking his farm duties. His suit seeks $500,000 from the government.
