Younger guys who flirt online are unlikely to find much understanding from their girlfriends if they get caught, a new survey suggests.

The survey, from Fusion.net, is part of an extensive poll of millennials that finds that 88 percent of women, compared with 77 percent of men, say online flirting is a form of cheating.

Twitter is an online cocktail party and Facebook often gives you access to a person that you could only get by being brave enough to ask for their number. But Fusion.net's survey of over 1,000 millennials has led us to some few interesting conclusions, including how us millennials view online behavior.

My fiancee Kristina has always told me that if I wouldn't do it in front of her, then it shouldn't be happening. Fair enough. I suppose that also transcends to online flirting, which is really no different than face-to-face flirting.

But in most cases, I think going online makes poor behavior easier for a couple of reasons. One, you can hide the conversation in a private message. Two, running into someone or setting up a meeting is unlikely to happen as often as opening a message and clicking send.

So heed the warning and understand the consequences. You could screw up a great relationship over the urge to show off and flirt with someone you don't really care about. Be safe, peeps.
