Pop-country singer-songwriter Jesse Sheppard is debuting his new track “Run Away” exclusively for readers of The Boot.

With hints of Rascal Flatts and Tim McGraw, plus plenty of pop-country sheen, “Run Away” is as radio-friendly a debut as an up-and-coming artist can hope for. Sheppard wrote the song himself; it was produced by Rob Freeman and mastered by Mike Kalajian. Readers can press play below to hear the tune.

At just 20 years old, Sheppard already has quite the musical background: When he was 14, Sheppard toured across the globe as part of the pop act Six Stories Told, opening for artists such as the Spill Canvas and Aaron Carter. But now, Sheppard is out to establish himself as a brand-new kind of artist.

“I'm the type of person that, when someone tells me that I can't do something or that I'll never succeed, I get an unshakable urge to prove them wrong,” he says. “Too many people today dismiss other people's dreams simply because they themselves never chased after their own.”

In March, Sheppard released a six-track EP, These Days, as well as a well-received cover of Kelsea Ballerini’s “Peter Pan.” He is currently working on his first full-length album, set for release at some point in 2017. In the meantime, "Run Away" is available for download on iTunes.
