Despite selling more than 13 million albums and being crowned the first winner of American Idol, Kelly Clarkson is not letting the fame go to her head — or her kids.'

The powerhouse vocalist opens up to Good Housekeeping magazine in the December 2016 issue, where she talks about how she's raising her children — daughter River Rose, son Remington and stepchildren Savannah and Seth — to be thoughtful people though raised in a wealthy household.

“My kids are obviously growing up very privileged, but I want them to have a servant’s heart,” Clarkson says, adding that she also deals with “the crap that comes along with this job" that can make it difficult when raising a family. Just one way she accomplishes this goal is through community service with her family. Clarkson has supported a variety of charities throughout her career, including St. Jude's Research Hospital, Little Kids Rock, Musicians on Call and many more.

The "Miss Independent" singer also reveals how she and husband Brandon Blackstock, stepson of country star Reba McEntire and manager to both Clarkson and Blake Shelton, manage to keep their marriage strong through a daily ritual that consists of drinking a glass of wine by the lakeside at their home, chatting until the wee hours of the morning. “The next thing we know, it’s 2AM. We’re tired in the morning, but we need that time to stay connected,” she reveals.

Clarkson recently released her first children's' book, River Rose and the Magical Lullaby, a sweet story about her daughter's first trip to the zoo. She's also gearing up for her 2016 Miracle on Broadway Christmas show taking place at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Dec. 16.
