Kelly Clarkson has teamed up with the First Lady for the release of a new song called "This Is for My Girls."

"This Is for My Girls" is an empowerment song for females and — in addition to Clarkson — features contributions from Kelly Rowland, Missy Elliott, Janelle Monae, Zendaya, Lea Michele, Jadagrace and Chloe & Halle. The song was written by Diane Warren and urges women to "stand up and be heard."

“It’s kind of like ‘We Are the World’ meets ‘Lady Marmalade’ with these strong voices and strong women,” Warren tells Billboard. “When was the last time you heard a song like this or a record that had this many amazing divas on it? I’m really proud.”

Sales of the song will benefit the Peace Corps’ Let Girls Learn Fund, which supports 62 million adolescent girls across the world who don’t have access to education.

"It happened so fast — literally Kelly Clarkson was singing her part in Nashville while we were almost mastering it," Warren recalls. "So we dropped her vocals in. It was that crazy."

Adds the icon, "We haven't had an anthem like this in awhile. I envisioned the record being with all these different women, never just one girl singing on it. With Kelly Rowland on it, it's almost like an updated Destiny's Child record. I think it can be a huge worldwide anthem. I hope it becomes that."

While Warren wrote the song, Missy Elliott wrote the rap featured on the track. Warren says the rap is "really inspired" on "This Is for My Girls."

Warren and Michelle Obama are in Austin, Texas on Wednesday (March 16) for South by Southwest 2016. Warren, Elliott, actress Sophia Bush and moderator Queen Latifah join Obama during the first lady's SXSW keynote speech to launch the music industry event.
