Lady Antebellum Reigns at Grammy Awards

Congrats to the group of the year!

Lady Antebellum took home five of the six Grammy Awards they were nominated for making them the most awarded act of any genre last night. Three of the five awards were given in the country categories of Album, Song, and Vocal Duo or Group. They also took home honors in the all-genre categories of Album and Song. Hillary Scott hopes their wins in those categories remind people of the power of country music. She also hopes the trio is making country music proud. “I think it just shows that country music is relevant and it’s relatable. And I just hope that they think we’re flying the flag right.” Lady Antebellum took the stage for a short tribute to Teddy Pendergrass, singing one of his hits, “If You Don’t Know Me By Now,” followed by their own hits, “American Honey,” and “Need You Now”. It was their second time to perform during the Grammys and Charles Kelley was humbled by the honor. “To be able to perform and to be given that opportunity for your music to reach all of these people – and a lot of people too who have never heard our music or anything like that – it’s huge exposure for a newer act. We hope to be doing this a long time and hopefully this isn’t our last.” Lady Antebellum is in the studio working on their third album and say they’re about halfway done.

• ACCEPTANCE  SPEECH HIGHLIGHTS – While accepting the Song of the Year award Dave Haywood said, “We are so blown away. We want to thank our families back in Nashville and Augusta, Georgia.” He also thanked manager Gary Borman, noting, “You’ve been the flagship behind this song that has completely flipped our world upside down.” Charles Kelley then shouted out a “Happy Valentine’s Day!” message to his wife, while Hillary Scott tearfully followed that by saying, “Thank you so much to the fans. Thank you to radio. This past year has completely changed our lives and we love you so much. Thank you!”
