Farewell Angelina have announced the departure of singer and guitarist Lauren Lucas.

The group announced the member change in a post to Facebook on Wednesday (Aug. 1), writing, "Many of you have been asking about our dear friend and superwoman of a sister, Lauren Lucas. Lauren is moving on to pursue different dreams — we’re so excited for her and know that she will be a success at EVERYTHING she does. Even though she won’t be touring with us, she will ALWAYS be an Angelina. We love her to the moon and back and will miss her very much."

Lucas was the most recent addition the group, having joined in September of 2016. Just a few months later, the group won Taste of Country's Hot Seat poll and joined our inaugural 2017 class of RISERS, along with Brett Young, Runaway June, Aubrie Sellers and more. The group performed stellar versions of their original song, "If It Ain't With You," as well as a cover of "House of the Rising Sun" for RISERS that showcased their unique mix of instrumental chops and one of the best vocal blends in contemporary country music.

Nicole Witt, Lisa Torres and Andrea Young have already announced Ashley Gearing to succeed Lucas in Farewell Angelina, saying that they've had "an incredible time on the road" with her. "She is champagne popping on repeat... a virtuosic singer, great guitar player, and our sassy Baby Spice," they write. "Many of you have already met her and love her just as much as we do. Ashley becomes an 'official' Angelina starting today. Please join us in welcoming this sweetheart of a person to the Farewell Family.... And in wishing our girl Lauren the fondest of farewells. We are so, so thankful to have both of these ladies in our lives..."

Farewell Angelina released their self-titled debut EP in 2016, produced by Keith Stegall for his Dreamlined Entertainment. They've opened for Kenny Chesney, Old Dominion, Frankie Ballard, Jake Owen, Billy Currington, Trace Adkins and more, most recently playing a series of shows with the Bacon Brothers. According to their official website, they are currently working on a new album that should see release by the fall of 2018.
