For one young girl, the highlight of the first day of school was going to be taking her bright new Wonder Woman lunchbox to class.

But it didn't go that way. Instead, she was sent home with a note from school officials asking that she leave her prized lunchbox at home. School regulations, as it turns out, deem any superhero image "violent" and therefore forbidden under the dress code.

I remember being 8 years old and having a good friend named Wade. But Wade's mom told him he couldn't play superheroes with me because superheroes were violent -- this was 1978, mind you. I was heartbroken as I never got to play with my friend again. I never even saw him again!. I've always wondered what happened to him and still I'm perplexed by the notion that superheroes are going to turn you violent.

I think everyone gets to make their own choices for their own children, but a blanket policy isn't always the best way to go.

What do you think in this case? Is the school wrong?
