Liz Davis Fires Up Miranda Lambert’s ‘Gunpowder and Lead’ on ‘The Voice’

Here’s a case of really buttering up your coach on ‘The Voice‘ — and it’s not the first time it has happened. During last night’s (Oct. 31) Knockout Round, Blake Shelton paired country blondes Gracia Harrison and Liz Davis against one another with no saves and no steals in his back pocket.

Whichever performer impressed him most was moving on, while the other would see the end of her road when it came to the show. Harrison tacked Aerosmith‘s ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,’ while Davis fired up Miranda Lambert‘s ‘Gunpowder and Lead.’

It was somewhat of a risky move for Davis to sing a song by Shelton’s wife. Or was it? The hopeful, who looked like a country diva with her big hair and black outfit, really owned the performance, and it’s why Shelton chose to push her through the live shows over Harrison. It was the right song choice since it fit her spunk and sass, and she certainly has the same spitfire energy as Lambert. Davis didn’t really do anything new or different to the song, but she turned in an engine-revving rendition.

Somehow, we don’t think that Lambert was at home, rolling her eyes at Davis’ performance. She done good and she’s going on to represent Team Blake in deeper rounds of Season 3.
