Miranda Lambert took home her first Grammy Award

Miranda Lambert took home her first Grammy Award last night in the Best Female Country Vocal Performance category for “The House That Built Me.” She enjoyed meeting other artists at the event but was relieved to see familiar faces when it came time to accept her award. Miranda said “I’m so glad they chose Zac and Dierks to give out the award that actually won because it’s so great to handed something that, you know, means the world from friends. Us country people stick together. (laughs)” Backstage, Miranda was already making a date with her new shiny trophy for today. She went on to say “I’m going to celebrate Valentine’s Day by kissing my Grammy accept I won’t get to take it home because they rip it away from you as soon as you win!” Blake Shelton introduced Miranda’s performance of “The House That Built Me,” during the show which Miranda dedicated to country music artists before her time.
· ACCEPTANCE SPEECH NOTES - Visibly excited by her first Grammy win and performance, Miranda first thanked the songwriters, Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin, then added, “Thank you so much for loving the lyrics to this song because it means the world to me. I know that everyone can relate to it.”
