I have to say I'm very proud of my daughter. Her whole life, she has been blessed (and burdened) with naturally blonde, curly hair. When she heard about Locks of Love a year ago, she decided that's what she wanted to do. Instead of getting her hair cut shorter, she'd wait it out a year to donate her hair to someone in need.

I say she's blessed, but it can also be a burden. It hurts her when we brush her hair, which is something we have to do often or she will start to get dreadlocks. About a year ago we decided it was time to cut it much shorter, but when we told her about Locks of Love, she said she wanted to do that. I honestly thought she'd decide that, then forget about it a week later but she still had it in mind every time we brought up the idea of getting her a hair cut.

We waited a year to get a nice donation. We also promised my daughter's great-grandma that we'd wait until after Christmas so our Christmas pictures could be with her long, curly hair. We did.

The day after Christmas, we found a place that was open and found one that did Locks of Love. If you call around, the places that take donations will cut it for free. That's the other part I like. We went to Fantastic Sams and they worked their magic.
