New Farm Bill Helps With Disaster Relief, Farm Education Seminar
- Farmers and ranchers who waited two and a half years for a Farm Bill are now getting some relief according to Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack.
The USDA has quickly implemented disaster assistance programs processing 106,000 payments to farmers in 40 states who suffered livestock and grazing losses between October 2011 and passage of the 2014 Farm Bill.
- The New Century Farmer program is designed to provide participants with valuable skills and knowledge applicable to their own farming operations.
For this year’s program, the National FFA Organization has selected 49 young people representing 26 states to take part in the intensive seminar.
Participants, including ones from Oregon and Idaho, will learn from each other and industry experts during workshops and sessions on the global marketplace, farm financing, demographic trends and risk management.
