New Idol Judge Defends Country Music

One of American Idol’s newest judges is taking a stand against former judge Simon Cowell’s dislike for country music. In an interview on Fox & Friends on Thursday, Steven Tyler said he hopes to bring a new perspective to the table. “It’s not like that other guy who says, ‘I hate country,’” the Aerosmith front man said. “That’s the one thing that turned me off about that show was that Simon passed on this kid and said, ‘besides which, I hate country.’ Not my cup of tea. If I’m judging music, you don’t judge the genre.” In past seasons, Simon was known for voicing his distaste in country. Pop-diva Jennifer Lopez also joins Steven Tyler as a new judge on the show‘s 10^th season, which kicked off last week. Check out CMT.com for more details
