Drivers should prepare for intermittent 30-minute delays .

One lane of US 12, about 3 miles east of White Pass, will reopen to traffic at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4.  A washout closed the highway between Packwood and Naches on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Flaggers and a temporary traffic signal will direct drivers through a single-lane detour. Drivers should be prepared for intermittent 30-minute delays as the Washington State Department of Transportation and contractor crews continue making emergency repairs.

WSDOT and the contractors are stabilizing and restoring the washed out area so two lanes can be reopened to traffic for winter.

Overweight, over width and over height loads are not allowed through the detour and need to use I-90 or I-5 as an alternate route.

Last week’s rain storms caused severe erosion along a 500-foot-long section of US 12.
