Pacific Power customers could be getting higher bills as early as this summer.

The utility compay is proposing a rate increase of  6 percent over the next two years on electricity bills.

Even though the increase would mean only a few extra dollars, officials say low-income families could feel it the most.

There is a silver lining, however. The $10 million extra Pacific Power would be accumulating would go toward paying off investments in coal-burning power plants, making it easier to transition into cleaner energy sources.
