Please Tell Me This Is Not The New Trend

The other day my son posted this picture on Facebook. It's him in the bathroom sink with a stuffed cat on his back. (I don't know why he used a stuffed cat when we have 4 real ones?)

I noticed that his friends on Facebook where also posting pictures of animals (real and stuffed) in the bathroom sink.

I'm just curious as to why they are doing this? Am I missing something? Is this like planking?
